Job summary
Your essential role in the processing, testing, storing and distribution of blood and blood products will directly contribute to the saving and improving of patients lives.
We will provide you with an extensive induction and training programme and ongoing development to support you in your role and achieving your career ambitions.
As part of the selection process, you will be invited to attend our Blood Centre, so that you can gain an understanding of the requirements of this essential role.
This job requires working from 12pm to 8pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Occasionally working on weekends will be given prior notice. There may be requirement to amend working hours to meet service requirements, prior notice will be given in this occasion.
Main duties of the job
- You will be required to perform a range of routine and non routine tasks for issuing to hospitals the blood donations from our donors, with the support of your supervisor and other team members
- You will be responsible for the support and training to less experienced staff
- You will be required to undertake precise repetitive manipulation of equipment and blood samples/donations and carry out routine tasks on a regular basis
- You will be required to handle blood bags and a range of equipment The role will require you to work variable hours and days, weekends and bank holidays as per the roster within the department (unless otherwise rostered within the shift agreement) with appropriate notice
- You will be required to manually handle equipment on a daily basis weighing up to 13 kgs, with or without mechanical aids, with appropriate training
