Research Governance Coordinator OTDT

Job summary

You will play a pivotal role in ensuring that NHSBT continues to be at the fore-front of research and innovation, in relation to organ donation and transplantation.

You will be responsible for assessing research proposals and providing advice to the Senior Management Team regarding which should be supported. You will also work closely with the newly established Research Operational Feasibility Group (ROFG) to build on the current processes and policies and for the transparent and equitable allocation of organs for research.

Working with nationally and internationally renowned researchers, you will support the delivery of projects that will increase the number of people whose lives can be saved or dramatically improved through an organ transplant.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for being the main point of contact within the Organ Tissue Donation and Transplant (OTDT) Directorate regarding research. You will be required to :

  • Ensure that OTDT has robust systems for considering proposals for research regarding organ donation and transplantation and monitoring progress with approve research and service evaluations.
  • Provide specialised advice to the Senior Management Team on research relating to organ donation and related areas.
  • Supporting research proposals through the NHSBT approval process.
  • Ensuring that research and service evaluation projects approved by NHSBT adhere to internal and legislative requirements, including Human Tissue Authority and ethics approval
  • Liaison with and management of internal and external stakeholders and the associated project management of national and international Organ Donation related research projects.
  • Secretariat support for the Research Operational Feasibility Group (ROFG) and associated sub-groups.

  • Degree in a scientific or business subject or equivalent qualification / experience
  • Post graduate diploma in a relevant subject or equivalent relevant experience for example research, healthcare or project management
  • Demonstrates commitment to own continued professional development (CPD)
