National Blood Transfusion Operations Manager

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team within Transfusion at NHSBT, as the National Blood Transfusion Committee (NBTC) Operations Manager, providing dedicated managerial support to the NBTC, Regional Transfusion Committees (RTCs) and its subject matter expert working groups. The NBTC, hosted by NHSBT, promotes good transfusion practice by providing information and advice to hospitals and blood services in England. The NBTC is supported by seven RTCs, which oversee the activities of local Hospital Transfusion Committees and provide a link between these and the NBTC. As the NBTC Operations Manager, the post holder will play a key role in the leadership of the NBTC, providing managerial support to the Chair, Patient Co-Chair, Deputy Chair and Secretary to ensure consistency across the RTCs and working groups, as well as develop workplans to progress the NBTCs strategic aims and programme of work. The role will include line management of the NBTC Executive Assistant and administrative team, as well as budget management and oversight of the NBTCs branding and comms. The successful candidate will have experience of multi-disciplinary working across different professional groups and organisations, as well as excellent communication skills and the ability to work autonomously. This role is a unique opportunity to further develop your management skills and experience, offering exposure to strategic decision-making and policy at a national and regional level.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will be the National Blood Transfusion Committee Operations Manager playing a key role in the leadership of the National Blood Transfusion Committee (NBTC), as well as in supporting the work and strategy of the NBTC and the Regional Transfusion Committees (RTCs). Responsibilities include: Working with the NBTC Chair, Deputy Chair and Secretary to develop an annual work plan to support the leadership and strategic direction of the NBTC, in line with the emerging outputs of the Infected Blood Inquiry (IBI) and the NHSBT Trsnsfusion 2024/Transformation programme of work. Working with the RTC Chairs and the Chairs of the NBTC working groups, developing workplans, policy and project plans for the RTCs and working groups in line with the overall NBTC strategy and its programme of work, and supporting the delivery of specific milestones and deliverables to ensure progress. Establishing a core set of KPIs to track the NBTCs overall performance, as well as developing KPIs and appropriate data collection methods to demonstrate the delivery and effectiveness of the NBTC/RTCs initiatives. Oversight, leadership and line management of the NBTC Executive Administration function and team, including recruitment, appraisal, and performance and sickness management. Ensuring coherent and consistent governance and meetings structures across the RTCs and working groups.
