Job summary

Are you passionate about Cyber Security and ready to make a real impact in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment? Were looking for a highly motivated and adaptable Cyber Security professional to join our team at NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT). In this dynamic role, you'll operate both independently and collaboratively within a busy Security Operations Centre, managing and resolving complex cyber incidents with sound judgement, technical expertise, and a methodical approach. With a focus on safeguarding critical systems and information, you will apply your analytical skills, business-risk awareness, and technical knowledge to identify, assess, and report threats while maintaining the highest standards of operational excellence.

You'll bring strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, the ability to work under pressure, and a continual commitment to personal and professional development. Your experience working with security tools such as SIEMs, along with formal training or certification in Information or Cyber Security, will enable you to proactively respond to incidents, support strategic organisational goals, and enhance our security posture. Flexibility, a collaborative mindset, and a drive to deliver excellent customer service are essential as you contribute to NHSBT's vital life-saving mission.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will Provide proactive Cyber Security Operations Analyst services to NHSBT, working within the Cyber Security Operations Centre to defined processes and standards, to identify and mitigate Cyber Security risks. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Identifying and investigating Cyber Security events and incidents
  • Preparing and reviewing routine Reports, and search criteria, that influence, enforce and illustrate NHSBTs Cyber Security posture
  • Analysing information from Cyber Security tools, data sets, and services to preserve and improve the Cyber Security posture of NHSBTs organisation, its systems, and services
  • Monitoring and managing Cyber Security Incidents and Events across the Incident Lifecycle and eradicate false positive (and negative) alerts where possible using an array of technical tools and capabilities
  • Using Cyber Security Intelligence to make informed Cyber Security decisions

You will be required to travel and spend time away from base, which will involve working irregular hours and overnight stays when required, with prior notice. You will also be required to participate in an on-call rota to provide emergency out of hours cover.
