NHSBT are in a period of growth, whilst also needing to find new ways of working and realise efficiencies. The Estates and Facilities Team are looking to lead the way in this and are on a journey to improve our department and effect change for all our customers.
You will lead a national operations team split over our 4 regions, along with our Engineering and PPM teams, ensuring we continue to deliver a safe, compliant workspace for all colleagues and an excellent donor experience.
You will demonstrate exceptional and inclusive leadership, technical expertise and decision making, giving support and direction to the team on a daily basis.
Your work will enable NHSBT to maintain and grow the Services they offer by providing fit for purpose facilities to attain strategic objectives.
You will work closely with a wide range of stakeholders both internal and external on everything from strategic objectives to individual projects using your influencing skills to achieve the desired results.

Main duties of the job
In this role you will be responsible for managing the National delivery or Estates and Facilities operations such as building maintenance and cleaning, regulatory compliance, Security, Contract management, staffing and budgets etc. Your responsibilities will include:
- Directing and line managing 4 regional managers, PPM manager and the National Engineering Manager
Owning of National FM Contracts operations.
- Owning any operational risk, governance and quality (including HSE, MHRA, CQC, GMP, etc).
- Driving continual improvements in ways of working, service levels and efficiencies.
- Building a collaborative environment within the E&F Ops teams.
- Understanding top down / externally imposed processes and how to work within them (Procurement, SCAP, etc).
- Driving Personal Development, Performance Reviews and Mandatory Training within Ops.
- Leading on all operational elements / meetings / new asks etc requiring senior input.
- Being the operational lead for the upcoming Estates Strategy.
- Deputising for the Assistant Director when required.

- Qualification at Masters level or above in suitable facilities, building or technical discipline (such as IWFM, RICS, CIOB, etc) and extensive equivalent demonstrable experience gained in a senior operational Leadership role within an E&F Function. Supplemented by additional specialist training / CPD.
- Possess a valid driving licence allowing the holder to drive in the UK.
- Demonstrates commitment to own continued professional development (CPD).

- Significant working experience of the big 6 compliance items (Asbestos, Fire, Water, Gas, Electrical and lift safety), the associated regulations and relating HSE guidance.
