Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated clinical trial co-ordinator to join the friendly CTU team in Cambridge to support our portfolio of trials. This role provides an excellent range of experience, providing support for all aspects of clinical trials from set up to close down. Main duties of the job

The clinical trial co-ordinator will be responsible for:

  • assisting with the management of one or more clinical trials, working with the Chief Investigator (CI),Clinical Operations Manager (COM) and Trial Manager (TM) as part of a multi-disciplinary research team
  • the co-ordination of design, implementation and running of the clinical trial(s) across multiple participating hospitals, ensuring timely data collection and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) compliance, and undertaking regular clinical monitoring site-visits
  • the maintenance of the Trial Master File and study documentation
  • obtaining ongoing ethical and regulatory approvals
  • facilitating meetings of trial committees and responsible for ensuring relevant and timely updates for project stakeholders.

A starting salary £37,338 to £44,962 per annum in accordance with Agenda for Change (AfC).

A full time, fixed-term opportunity to join as a Band 6, and progress with NHSBT.

NHSBT promotes flexible working opportunities where the role will allow.

27 days annual leave (pro rata for part-time) plus Bank Holidays, increasing to 29 days after 5 years’ service and to 33 days after 10 years.

  • Honours degree in a relevant science / healthcare related subject (including nursing) or specialist knowledge gained through formal training and extensive work experience in a healthcare/academic setting.
  • Demonstrates commitment to own continued professional development (CPD)

Experience

  • Awareness of NHS research governance and International Conference on Harmonisation Good Clinical Practice (ICH-GCP) and other relevant guidelines and regulations governing conduct of clinical trials in UK and internationally
  • Understanding of current data protection legislation and ethical issues, and experience of preparation of ethical submissions
  • Experience of working with information technology using Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), databases or equivalent Systems
  • Awareness of regulations and the regulatory bodies governing clinical trials, particularly of ATMPs, IMPs, Medical Devices, tissues and radioactive products
