Job summary
Hub Operations provide information efficiently and effectively to those in the wider donation and transplant community to make transplants happen, ensure patient safety and to help fulfil our statutory obligations. This includes facilitating up to 1,600 per year, conduct over 39,000 offers and ensuring that 4500 potential transplant recipients receive an offer of a live saving or improving transplant. Main duties of the job
In this role you will co-ordinate the matching and allocation of human organs for transplantation, 24 hours a day, 365 days per year to the UK, Republic of Ireland and European Organ Exchange Organisations. Your responsibilities will include:
- Communicating with consultants, medical, scientific, nursing and administrative staff both nationally and internationally
- Recording information relating to organ offering via the National Transplant Database and arrange transportation of organs for transplant.
- Liaising with transplant centres in relation to registration of urgent patients awaiting transplantation, capturing and recording transplant outcome information and removing patients from the waiting list following transplantation.
- Liaising with research studies around placings organs for research where they have been deemed unsuitable for transplantation.
- Coordinating logistical support with our transport provider to move organs and the National Organ Retrieval Teams.
- Acting as the onsite emergency contact during out of office hours for the Organ Donation and Transplantation site
You will be required to take part in a rota to support 24/7 working. Shifts include day, night, weekend and bank holiday. You will receive notice in advance of the shifts and on-call to be covered
