Job summary
NHS Blood and Transplant has an exciting opportunity for Systems Developer to join our in-house development team working in a friendly and progressive environment based in Birmingham. You will be responsible for the analysis, design, and maintenance of multiple applications critical to organ and tissue donation and transplantation, used by hospitals across the country, as well as helping to replace some legacy components with up-to-date solutions. You will also be working on server management both on-premises and Azure cloud and DevOps. Youll have good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and creatively when resolving problems. You must have a passion for innovation and a can-do attitude to creating new software systems.
Main duties of the job
In this role you will be required to:-
- Design, develop and maintain our software systems and databases, covering all stages of the software development lifecycle.
- Assist our staff in the preparation of requirements and technical specifications, and to produce and maintain documentation to accepted professional standards.
- Perform research and development in the latest tools, technologies and platforms to support NHSBT.
- Facilitate the integration of new solutions with existing systems.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest industry trends and best practices to support the Team Leader.
- You will be required, on occasion, to undertake travel to other sites and spend time away from base to meet the requirements of the post (with appropriate notice).
