Job summary

Patient Blood Management (PBM) is a patient-centred, evidence-based approach focused on improving patient outcomes by optimising and preserving the patients own blood while ensuring safety and empowerment. Education plays a crucial role in advancing PBM and blood transfusion practice, and our PBM Education team delivers a range of courses, initiatives, and information resources for healthcare professionals and the public. In this role, you will play a key part in coordinating and delivering our education initiatives, working alongside a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals and administrators. You will be joining a supportive and collaborative team, committed to both professional and personal development. Main duties of the job

Patient Blood Management (PBM) is a patient-centred, systematic, evidence-based approach to improve patient outcomes by managing and preserving the patients own blood, while promoting patient safety and empowerment. It represents an international initiative in best practice including transfusion medicine. In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Establishing working relationships with a variety of stakeholders across NHSBT to enable projects that align with directorate strategic priorities.
  • Providing high-level administrative support the Patient Blood Management (PBM) Team, in planning and delivering education initiatives.
  • Managing the reporting cadence for key meetings and required materials.
  • Maintain a repository of performance data and undertake analysis and interpretation to drive improvements.
  • Deputising, where appropriate for the PBM Education Practitioner, for activities which do not require professional registration.
  • Identifying and implementing areas of continuous improvement for the education function of the PBM team.
  • Supervision and training of business administrators supporting PBM Team, with respect to education projects and workstreams.

You will be required to travel and spend time away from base, which will involve working irregular hours and overnight stays when required, with prior notice
