Job summary

Youll be joining the Record Management & Disclosure team as it embarks upon its most ambitious program of change yet. You will have responsibility for leading on the Records Management Framework and Strategy to contribute to embedding records management and disclosure practices across the organisation. As well as ensuring that all records (paper and digital) are managed according to legislation, regulation and good practice. You will equally have the opportunity to support, develop and establish new processes within the wider Information Governance strategic agenda, advising colleagues and other members of the team on additional Data Privacy and Information Governance remits. Reporting directly to the Senior Records & Disclosure Manager, you will gain experience and development as a senior member of the team and will have the opportunity to collaborate and advise across all NHSBT directorates to support the organisation to save and improve lives.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will be part of the Data Security, Privacy and Records Management (DSPR) team led by the Head of DSPR, supporting all areas of the organisation to ensure Records Management and Data Privacy and Security standards are met across NHSBT. Your responsibilities will include: Supporting the effective delivery of the Records Management Programme, including managing digital and paper records across the entire records lifecycle, from creation to deletion and developing a Records Management framework and strategic agenda to ensure that records are managed consistently and effectively and based on established standards and statutory legislation Contributing to the wider DSPR strategic agenda to ensure DSPR continues to be customer centric function for NHSBT and an enabler of organisation wide objectives, ensuring compliance with regulatory and statutory legislation. Supporting DSPRs disclosure service (FOIs and SARs) Be a point of contact for specialist knowledge in the following areas: Records Management (inc. Freedom of Information) and Disclosure (inc. Subject Access Requests) providing expert guidance to the organisation, and donors, recipients and patients on Records Management related matters. Oversee and provide expert advice and guidance on relevant Records Management and Data Privacy legislation (e.g. Public Records Act 1958, Freedom of Information Act 2000, Environmental Information Regulations 2004 and Data Protection Legislation

Qualifications

Essential

  • Accredited professional qualification at masters level or clear equivalent experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Records Management
  • Data Protection
  • Information Governance Practitioner
  • General Data Protection Regulation
  • Demonstrates commitment to own continued professional development (CPD)

Experience

Essential

  • Up to date knowledge of applicable Records Management and Data Privacy legislation and relevant best practice within the public sector.
  • Evidence of knowledge of successful strategic change management processes
  • Previous contribution to successful governance in a clinical organisation
  • Experience in updating, refinement and execution of Data Privacy processes and procedures, specifically for record retention and destruction
  • Previous experience in an Records Management or Data Privacy role.
  • Have a good understanding of the principles of robust Data Privacy including sharing and processing of personal data and incident management.
  • Experience of working with Information Technology using Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
