Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join an ambitious organisation aiming to revolutionise digital and technology services. As a Senior Digital Developer Team Leader, you will be able to utilise your experience to drive continuous improvement of our products and ways of working. This varied hybrid role will be a mixture of home working, NHSBT centre base working, some days you may be spent hands on development of our products and services and mentoring the team, others may be spent working on the software delivery strategy for the team or working with customers of NHSBT senior management to determine the requirements for digital solutions; some may involve ensuring strategic suppliers are keeping up with their obligations; and some will be spent driving the agenda and successful outcomes from high level meetings. You will be responsible for leading and mentoring a team of skilled individuals working on a variety of technologies (e.g. C#, .Net, Cloud & Serverless & full stack technologies) helping you gain valuable experience in a wide range of technologies. Reporting directly to the Product Centre Technical Lead you will have peers in other Digital areas helping you gain exposure across many areas of the business.
Main duties of the job
In this role you will lead, motivate, and mentor a team of developers, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality systems that meet NHSBT's operational and strategic objectives. Responsibilities include: Planning and coordinating the teams workload to develop and deploy world-class information systems, application software, and database services using the best tools and technologies. Acting as a technical authority on the software development methods and tools used by the team and on the systems developed and maintained. Assisting in formulating the Product Centre Software Development strategy. Providing expert advice on software development, database systems, and systems analysis. Leading strategic discussions, mentoring developers, and presenting technical solutions. Conducting research on new technologies, products, and tools, and presenting findings to senior management. Maintaining existing applications, including collecting change requirements, identifying improvement opportunities, and running workshops. Advising on the procurement and implementation of third-party systems. Collaborating with system suppliers to select appropriate technologies for NHSBT systems. Working closely with the Business Intelligence and Data Management Department to provide software, database solutions, and technical support. Please note that following the recent NHS pay rise for 2024/25, the salary for this post has been increased to £53,755 - £60,504 per annum, plus HCAS where applicable. This update will be reflected on our website when applying for the role
