Job summary
In this vital role you will lead and manage the Quality Assurance Team that supports Organ Donation and Transplantation (ODT) within the Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation (OTDT) directorate, across the UK. This role will be responsible for the maintenance and further development of efficient and effective quality systems to ensure regulatory compliance. The responsibilities will be significant and varied. Our quality assurance roles are unique within the field of healthcare, as they are concerned with blood, platelets and organs. Reporting to the National Quality Assurance Manager, ODT, you will be responsible for driving quality assurance, regulatory standards and guidelines to support organ donation teams and services across the UK. Managing a small team, you will proactively review and improve processes to ensure compliance. Your responsibilities will cover every aspect of quality assurance, from organ donation processes to tracing and resolving problems to ensure patient safety. Liaising with all departments as a trusted expert, you will provide crucial technical advice and assistance, as well as delivering complex and sensitive information at the highest levels. Undertaking audits, you will track and manage results and introduce corrective or preventative measures if needed. You will make sure systems are up to date and conduct formal training, as well as managing team events.
Main duties of the job
In this role you will be responsible for:- Supporting and developing NHS governance initiative and NHSBT Core purpose by assisting Director of Quality or nominee in partnership with leading functional stakeholders and project leads. Development and maintenance of compliance to all relevant licensing and accreditation standards and improve service delivery to customers for the site through site QA departments and cross-functional working. Acting as the Site Responsible Person (RP) under the Blood Safety and Quality Regulations and Person Designated (PD) under the Human Tissues Act (2004). You will be required to travel and spend time away from base, which will involve working irregular hours and overnight stays when required, with prior notice. You will be required to participate in an on-call out of hours rota which may include evening, weekend or public holiday working, prior notice will be given You will be involved with Operational Improvement events using LEAN principles and projects or workshops to identify areas for and methods to improve the services we provide.
