Job summary
This is an interesting and varied role, where two days are rarely the same. Being a Business Continuity Manager gives you the chance to work closely with a wide range of people across the organisation. The job will involve you taking responsibility for the resilience of specific departments and centres, allowing you to set the agenda in your areas, with the support of the team as needed.
This is a chance for you to develop your contingency knowledge in a complex organisation, whilst helping important work that ultimately delivers products that can be literally life changing for patients. As part of a small, close-knit team there is the chance to develop your skills across the business continuity agenda, including response, emergency planning and supply chain audit. The post holder will deliver training, facilitate exercises, and represent NHSBT with external stakeholders, and there will also be a need to engage and influence senior management.
The post holder therefore will require excellent presentational skills, both verbal and written. You will to be a creative thinker and be proactive in implementing the BC System, with a proven ability to negotiate and influence at all levels.
Main duties of the job
In this role with the Business Continuity team, your duties will include:
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders in support of plan preparation, training and exercising and undertake project work as necessary.
- Managing the day-to-day Resilience and Emergency Preparedness (Business Continuity and Emergency Planning) requirements of NHSBT.
- Ensuring compliance with legislation, DHSC requirements, adopted standards, and best practice, to deliver an integrated approach.
- Providing highly developed specialist Business Continuity and Emergency Preparedness knowledge to all levels of staff and external stakeholders including ongoing advice, training, and support.
- Liaising and communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders, both informally and representing NHSBT at formally constituted external groups communicating complex, sensitive or contentious information.
- Being able to adapt to changes in a positive manner and to stimulate the acceptance of change in others at all levels within the organisation.
