You will be clinical expert in all blood & component donation and donor care activity, you will be a trusted source of advice to staff across the directorate. Nurses will rely on your inspirational and professional leadership, as you champion the highest standards of both care and supervision. Main duties of the job

As a Deputy Chief Nurse you will be accountable for direct delivery of the donor care services and act as the clinical expert in all donation and donor care related activity. Your responsibilities will include:- Supporting and deputising for the Chief Nurse as the directorate lead responsible for all clinical aspects of the donation service, and will be accountable for the development and implementation of care packages. Work in collaboration with the other Deputy Chief Nurse (there are 2 posts in total) ensuring the portfolio of work for the roles are delivered. Accountability for the provision of dynamic, inspirational and professional management and leadership and for ensuring statutory regulation and supervision for all nurses and staff groups to whom nursing care is delegated. Creating an environment in which excellent, enhanced and sustained nursing practice, training and development and patient and donor safety can flourish and the development and application of education policy to enable a flexible, skilled, productive and affordable workforce that meets the needs of the service. Ensuring positive service user experience by improving the quality of care by proactively promoting the CQC Essential Standards, alongside other relevant regulatory requirements and standards. Working collaboratively with other Heads of Function to provide assurance to the senior management team that robust systems of governance are in place

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse with current Nursing and Midwifery Council registration (which must be maintained) as Registered Nurse - Adult
  • Educated to Masters level OR
  • Equivalent masters level experience plus modules at this level are complete or are ongoing as part of current master level post graduate academic study (with an ongoing commitment to complete a masters level qualification).
  • Evidence of commitment to continued learning and application in practice

Experience

Essential

  • Substantial management and leadership experience in a fast-paced service sector at a senior level, managing a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrable evidence of successful improvement in service delivery and implementation of change
  • Experience in managing and motivating people to deliver corporate strategy and business objectives
  • Extensive experience of working with budgets
  • Experience in setting, monitoring and evaluating standards of care
  • Understanding and knowledge of patient safety initiatives and strategies and risk management
  • Experience of leading on either clinical or compliance audits
  • Substantial experience of managing operational delivery of services, for example within a regulatory framework e.g. the Blood and Safety Quality Regulations (BSQR), Care Quality Standards and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
