Our Therapeutic Apheresis Services (TAS) team delivers a range of life saving and life-enhancing treatments including Plasma Exchange, Red Cell Exchange, Stem Cell Harvest and CAR-T Cell Harvest to adults and children. We work from 8 regions across the country and treat a range of different specialties, including Sickle Cell Disorder, Haematological Oncology, Renal and Neurological Conditions. We are a highly trained and specialised team providing expert and compassionate care to a varied patient group. No experience in Apheresis is required, a 12-week supernumerary period will be given and includes a full modular, academic, and practical training programme.
Main duties of the job
As a Specialist Nurse, you will work closely with the Lead Nurse to provide clinical care for patients and donors. You will work within a supportive team and will take ownership of providing one-to-one care to our patients. You will have the opportunity to develop your leadership, management and clinical skills. Your key responsibilities will include: Carrying out therapeutic apheresis procedures using a variety of cutting-edge technology. Working alongside your team to provide a high-quality, compassionate and effective care to our patients and donors. Participating in and leading international studies, local audits and research projects to drive improvement in clinical practice. Providing expert and compassionate apheresis treatments to patients within our Therapeutic Apheresis Services (TAS) Unit and on an outreach basis for neighbouring hospitals. Deputising for the Lead Nurse when required to provide day to day leadership for the unit. Participating in a 24 hour on-call rota, providing emergency treatments out of hours within your region.
