Job summary
Do you have the communication expertise to lead projects that save and improve lives? Then read on NHS Blood and Transplant is a Special Health Authority, dedicated to saving and improving lives through a wide range of services to the NHS. It has a wide and diverse remit including, blood donation, organ donation and stem cells. The Corporate Communications team works across all these areas meaning you will work across a wide variety of subjects each week. This role also allows you the opportunity to work with colleagues from all levels within the organisation up to and including the Chief Executive and Chairman. You will be part of a supportive team, which forms part of the wider Communications Directorate, and will be actively encouraged to share your ideas and thoughts on how we continue to improve the way in which we engage with all our colleagues and stakeholders.
Main duties of the job
In this role you will support the Corporate Communications Manager and Corporate Communications colleagues in implementing and delivering all areas of corporate communications strategy including media and PR; external affairs and stakeholder engagement. Your responsibilities will include :- Working closely with the Communications Manager and Corporate Communications colleagues to implement our corporate communications strategy in support of our aims and objectives, promoting the purpose of the organisation and maintaining its professional corporate image and reputation with external stakeholders. Developing and leading external communication for NHSBT across all the responsibilities and remit of the Corporate Communications Team. Handling a large and constantly changing workload in a busy environment. Handling reputational issues under pressure; providing advice to a range of individuals on a number of different levels as well as being adept at managing relationships with individuals both within and outside the organisation. You will be required to travel and spend time away from base, which will involve working irregular hours and overnight stays when required, with prior notice.
