Job summary
NHS Blood and Transplant is looking for an exceptional candidate to join our team of Business Development Managers supporting our rapidly growing Cellular and Molecular Therapies business. Working with commercial and academic clients, both nationally and internationally, you will be a key part of NHSBTs vision to lead the adoption of innovative cell and gene therapies into the NHS. NHSBT is making significant investment in its workforce and facilities infrastructure. Against this background, you will have the business acumen as well as the scientific background and strategic vision required to support the national Head of Cellular and Molecular Therapies and other senior managers across the organisation. You will have the energy and organisational skills to manage multiple complex projects to demanding timescales. Excellent communications skills and a proven track record of building positive relationships with customers and colleagues will be essential. You will be responsible for achieving income expectations for the Clinical Biotechnology Centre (CBC) and will promote CBCs manufacturing services for plasmid DNA and viral vectors. Part of the role will be to support the successful delivery of the NHSBT Innovation Hub for Gene Therapies, hosted by CBC, by providing liaison with the Hub funder (MRC/LifeArc), with other Hubs and with Hub clients.
Main duties of the job
In this role you will be responsible for research, market analysis, developing marketing plans and sales strategies for the Clinical Biotechnology Centre. Your responsibilities will include: Ensuring strategic and growth plans are formulated, developed, and actioned Development of marketing strategies for CBCs range of DNA and viral vector products for molecular therapies. Reviewing performance, identifying, and implementing solutions where required. Managing existing accounts and growing new business. Providing marketing expertise to the Head of CBC and the CBCs operations management team. Representing the Cellular and Molecular Therapies Function at key meetings where marketing and business development is under discussion. You will be required to travel and spend time away from base, which will involve working irregular hours and overnight stays when required, with prior notice
