Job summary
As the Area Manager / Area Matron, you will lead and manage a cohesive area team in the delivery of a safe and sufficient blood and component supply, across several blood donation teams. Committed to and holding all to account for the delivery and continuous improvement of an excellent donor experience, maximising donor loyalty and retention through leading and managing several blood donation teams within a specific area.
Main duties of the job
You will lead and manage an area team in the delivery of an essential frontline service and be responsible for the delivery of efficiency and sufficiency strategic targets within your area.
You will be accountable for achieving all key performance indicators through visible, confident and assured leadership and performance management.
You will be a visible leader who will set and promote the behaviours required to deliver an excellent donation experience
You will be committed to the delivery and continuous improvement of an excellent donor experience, maximising donor loyalty and retention.
You will undertake the role and responsibilities of the Blood Donation designated Responsible Person (RP) for a named blood centre (s) as described in the Blood Safety and Quality Regulations 2005.
You will be required to travel and spend time away from base, which will involve working irregular hours and overnight stays when required, with prior notice.

- Registered Nurse with current Nursing and Midwifery Council registration (which must be maintained) as Registered Nurse Adult.
- OR
- Possess a recognised qualification in Management (eg MBA) or equivalent experience.
- Possession of a valid driving licence, allowing you to drive in the UK.
- Evidence of continuous professional development.

- Substantial management and leadership experience in a clinical environment at a senior level.
- Experience of successful improvement in service delivery and implementation of change.
- Experience in financial management and budget control.
- Knowledge of patient safety initiatives and strategies and risk management.
