Job summary
In this role you will work as part of a team to support and assist in the work of the Tissue Bank. Your responsibilities will include :- Carrying out duties related to the cleaning of the laboratory clean rooms, equipment and storage areas to ensure a clean environment for the processing, storage and release of tissue grafts and implants. Working flexibly across the range of activities as rostered and assisting in developing the service in anticipation of future clinical needs. Monitoring and maintaining laboratory stocks and supplies on a daily basis to help optimise use of consumables and reduce wastage. Check and distribute incoming goods in a timely manner. Prepare stores orders, record receipt of goods inward Ability to lift and carry items up to a weight of 15kgs, with and without the use of mechanical aids On occasions you will be required to travel and spend time away from base, which may involve working irregular hours & for which prior notice will be given
Main duties of the job
Youll play a vital supporting role in our Liverpool Tissue Bank the centre that supplies hospitals nationally with tissues required to save and improve patients lives. Working as part of a team in our laboratories your job will be to clean laboratory equipment and storage areas to ensure a clean, sterile environment for us to process, store and release tissue grafts and implants. Youll ideally have experience of working in a laboratory, hospital or catering environment and an interest in science, however this is not essential for this role. Youll definitely need all-round team-working skills including the ability to motivate yourself and other people; good communication skills; accurate record-keeping and the ability to prioritise your work even when the pressure is on. Theres some lifting involved, so youll need to be prepared to do this; youll also need to work in low temperatures (when cleaning our freezer areas) and with chemicals such as dry ice or liquid nitrogen. You will also need to work in a sterile clean room environment, keeping your area clean and wearing protective overalls, gloves, masks, hoods and boots.
