Job summary

Within this role you will be an integral part of the ODT Clinical Governance Team and wider ODT directorate. Utilising your problem solving and analytical skills you will investigate and manage incidents reported. You will be part of the team responsible for the sharing of the learning gained from both incidents and complaints, to improve practice and ensure the service provided to donor families, organ recipients and our stakeholders is the best and safest it can be.

You will have the opportunity to work with people of all levels across the whole of the Organ Donation and Transplantation (ODT) directorate and both the wider NHS Blood and Transplant and wider NHS.

You will have the opportunity to apply your excellent communication, presentation, analytical and questioning skills, applying attention to detail and accuracy at all times.

You will work as part of the UK wide Organ Donation team, working with colleagues and often autonomously to support and lead service developments.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will be working with the governance team to ensure regulatory compliance in your directorate and the wider organisation. Your responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the Clinical Governance Team achievement of strategies, objectives and development of service delivery targets.
  • Supporting the development of existing Clinical Governance processes across the Organ Donation and Transplantation (ODT) in line with our Clinical Audit, Risk and Effectiveness Committee (CARE) Strategy, through to their implementation.
  • Supporting the further development of governance and quality systems within the ODT Directorate.
  • Providing on-going clinical support for the management of Clinical Governance incidents within ODT.
  • Investigating, analysing data for trends and making recommendations.
  • Using the outcomes of investigations to share good practice and make recommendations. Co-ordinating and submitting clinical governance reports to key stakeholders.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree or equivalent qualification, or equivalent experience in nursing.
  • Relevant recognised post graduate nursing qualification e.g. in renal or ICU.
  • Teaching qualification or equivalent teaching experience.
  • Registered Nurse with current Nursing and Midwifery Council registration (which must be maintained).
  • Demonstrates commitment to own continued professional development (CPD).

Experience

Essential

  • Clinical experience in organ donation and/or organ transplantation.
  • A thorough understanding of organ donation and transplantation issues.
  • Proven knowledge of the principles of an integrated governance framework.
  • Evidence of experience of implementing effective change within team(s)/across an organisation.
  • Experience of problem-solving in a proactive way.
  • Evidence of designing and implementing systems and processes to improve performance.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Experience of working with information technology using Microsoft Office packages (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint).
