In this role youll work with the Assistant Director of Communications to develop and oversee the implementation of NHSBTs communications strategy and lead the Strategy, Planning and Evaluation team to ensure communications and milestones across NHSBT are coordinated and evaluated. You will be responsible for leading on cross cutting communications issues as required, acting as a pivotal role in work activity planning and objective delivery for the comms team to support organisational objectives. You will also take the lead on owning and developing cross NHSBT position papers on key issues and working with the Assistant Director to support the Chief Executive. Main duties of the job

Leading the Strategy, Planning and Evaluation team to ensure communications and milestones across NHSBT are coordinated and evaluated and ensure senior leaders are kept up to date with plans and results. Work as NHSBTs lead planning and evaluation comms specialist, acting as a trusted professional advisor and linking in with Government, ALBs and stakeholders and partners as necessary. Identifying long term communication requirements, threats and opportunities by long-term horizon scanning. Understanding the functions across the communications mix to provide strategic communications advice to the Executive Team and senior colleagues. Leading on cross cutting communications issues as required acting as a pivotal role in work activity planning and objective delivery for the comms function to support organisational objectives Lead on owning and developing cross NHSBT position papers on key issues and supporting the Chief Executive. Developing and owning the narrative on cross cutting NHSBT communications issues. Providing professional leadership for all aspects of planning and evaluation. You will be required to travel and spend time away from base, which may involve working irregular hours and overnight stays when required, with prior notice

  • Relevant postgraduate degree/professional qualification or equivalent professional experience.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development
  • Availability to travel within the UK, including overnight stays, where necessary
