Job summary
This exciting new post will provide an opportunity to influence after death culture with regards to tissue donation. The post will require high level communication and negotiation skills with senior NHS colleagues and will be a fantastic networking opportunity. The post also requires the coordination and delivery of teaching and training NHS colleagues in this unique, dynamic area of after death care.
Main duties of the job
You will be the lead in the promotion and normalisation of tissue donation after death within your geographical regions in both hospital and out of hospital settings. Your responsibilities will include: You will create robust, sustainable high quality referral systems for tissue donation after death in both hospital and out of hospital settings. You will work with the Lead Nurse, Out of Hospital Referral Systems regarding strategic planning to ensure an adequate supply of quality tissue for transplantation and research. You will be the regional point of contact for Tissue Donation and support for professionals and the critical link within the wider community You will be the professional link with Chief Nurses, Directors of Nursing and managers within the region in collaboration with the Lead Nurse, Out of Hospital Referral Systems. You will be the professional and clinical link with Specialist Nurses (Organ Donation) and Clinical Leads (Organ Donation) within the region and to be an active, effective member of external Donation Committees and be the representative and ambassador for Tissue Services. You will provide regular and effective education and training sessions for relevant groups of health care professionals with regards to raising awareness of tissue donation. You will ensure that there is visible, pre emptive information regarding tissue donation for families, the general public and relevant health care professionals within geographical regions.
