Job summary
Innovative cellular and molecular therapies are starting the transform the way we treat cancer and other life-threatening conditions. Through our network of state-of-the-art facilities, we are at the forefront of developing and manufacturing these new therapies for early phase clinical trials. The delivery of these new therapies into the NHS builds on our extensive expertise supporting more established stem cell transplantation therapies for malignant and inherited haematological disorders.
Working with scientific and medical professionals, you will develop and manufacture life-saving cell and gene therapies. To start with, we will provide you with an extensive induction and training programme. This will provide you with the skills and knowledge you will need to develop and produce cell therapies for established applications as well as first in man studies.
You will be experienced in the use of core laboratory techniques such as flow cytometry and cell culture. Ideally, you will have experience of working in a GMP environment or of cell processing and cryopreservation techniques.
Main duties of the job
In this role you will be working with senior scientific and medical professionals to develop and manufacture life-saving innovative and established cell and gene therapies. Following a period of training to equip you with specialist skills and knowledge, you responsibilities will include;
- Working with the National Head of CMT, the CMT National Operations Manager, the CMT Quality and Improvement Specialist and the Heads of CMT Laboratories (HoLs) to continually develop and improve the delivery of services for patients and donors.
- Supporting and contributing to the development of improved performance and service delivery for the CMT Function and provide input to the development of the CMT strategy.
- Leading and co-ordinating a range of programmes addressing performance and service issues across CMT.
- Managing and implementing major change programmes within CMT.
- Managing requests received by CMT to provide operational support for clinical trials and commissioned advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs).
