Job summary
As an internationally recognised laboratory in Cambridge, alongside Addenbrookes Hospital on the world-renowned Cambridge Biomedical Campus, we are looking for someone who is keen to deliver change in our multi-faceted organisation. This is an exciting opportunity to head up our national Non-Clinical Issue (NCI) function. This currently provides over 400 UK-wide approved customers with donated material to facilitate their research & development. You will be responsible for the delivery of this service and developing proposals to expand our offering to researchers across the UK based on future customer needs. You will become NHSBTs primary subject matter expert in the compliant provision of donated materials for R&D and other uses to internal and external UK customers which may include clinical trial use. You will be part of the NHSBT Component Development Function which is also responsible for research & development to improve clinical products for transfusion. You will be part of a wider team that encompasses clinical as well as non-clinical product development for the benefit of patients. Wed ideally like you to join us in Cambridge but will also consider other base locations options near any of our main centres across England.
Main duties of the job
You will have overall accountability for the management & strategic development for NHSBTs national Non-Clinical Issue (NCI) function. You will be responsible for: Direct line management responsibility for department staff and budget Ensuring customer requests for donated material for research are considered and supplied where appropriate. Deliver minimum annual income budget (currently in excess of £1.2M per year) without adversely affecting NHSBTs primary ability to maintain a safe and sufficient supply of donated blood for clinical use. Responsible for all market research, analysis, and the development of business cases for new products to expand product portfolio. Commission and oversee research & development into new products and implement findings if appropriate to bring new products online. Responsible for the appropriate governance, to ensure compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
