Job summary
Our work in Cellular and Molecular Therapies (CMT) is central to the provision and improvement of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. This work enables us to support approximately half of stem cell transplants carried out in England each year through a network of GMP grade laboratories. Working with scientific and medical professionals, you willsupport thedevelopment,manufacture, processing and issue oflife-saving cellulartherapies. To start with, we will provide you with an extensive induction and training programme. This will provide you with the skills and knowledge you will need to support the development and production of therapies for established applicationssuch as stem cell transplantationas well as first inhuman studies and Advanced Medicinal therapies. Youll provide vital support to qualified scientific staff as they undertake specialised work in our Human Tissue Authority (HTA) regulated laboratories. You will be preparing samples for testing or storage, performing stock management, carrying out basic maintenance on equipment and will be working regularly in a clean room environment. Were looking for a good team player, who is capable of motivating themselves and others while tackling a wide variety of tasks.
Main duties of the job
You will be required to perform a range of scientific and technical activities related to the collection and cryopreservation of Stem Cells You will be required to clean the regulated laboratories to a high specification, wearing cover-all garments You will be required to maintain stocks and reagents in-line with HTA and MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency) regulations The role will require you to work standard hours and days, with some evenings, weekends and bank holidays depending on the project schedule, but with appropriate notice You will be required to manually handle equipment on a daily basis weighing up to 13 kgs, with or without mechanical aids, with appropriate training You will be responsible for the support and training of new and less experienced staff
