Job summary
To support flexible working amongst our current staff we are looking for an enthusiastic GP to provide two sessions maternity cover and join our friendly and supportive primary care team. We are a highly motivated well-organised training practice that prides ourselves on providing high quality patient centred care whilst maintaining a good work life balance.
The surgery is situated directly off Junction 26, M4 - an easy commute from both Cardiff and Bristol.
Main duties of the job
To work as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for the provision of medical services to the practice population, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care whilst complying with the GMS contract.
The post holder will adhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice, contributing to the effective management of the practice, leading by example, maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team.

Malpas Brook Health Centre has 3 GP Partners, 5 Salaried doctors and 2 GP registrars, 1 Nurse Practitioner, 1 Minor Illness Nurse, 3 Practice Nurses, 1 HCA, phlebotomist, Mental Health Practitioner and Practice Pharmacist. We have a patient list size of 11,000.

Job responsibilities
- Routine and emergency appointments up to 16 patients per session
- Home Visits to be shared equally after 1st visit is allocated to on call gp
- Lab reports to be actioned daily and shared between all doctors in surgery that day
- Medicine management queries and med reviews where possible
- Checking and sending referrals written referral go back to secretaries
- QAIF input during consultations as needed
- Signing of fair share of prescriptions (this may involve additional prescriptions through busy times/annual leave/sickness within the practice)
- You will be required to supervise medical students as part of a shared rota
- GP registrar hot reviews where needed (blocked time for this)
- You will be required to complete a small amount of practice medical reports roughly 3 hours per month.
- Attendance at practice team meetings and significant event meetings
- Clinical audit where required to improve practice performance or as part of continuous professional development with mutual agreement and to help with appraisal requirements
- Attendance at formal primary care meetings (prescribing/NCN etc.) within contractual hours if required
- Involvement in practice research studies
- Nurse supervision and teaching of minor illness
