We are looking for a friendly, reliable, and highly organised receptionist to join our team across two busy GP practices Cwm Calon and Aberbeeg.

As the first point of contact for patients, you'll play a vital role in delivering excellent customer service and supporting the smooth running of both surgeries.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities

- Welcoming patients and visitors in person and over the phone

- Booking, amending, and cancelling appointments

- Managing patient records and handling confidential information

- Liaising with clinical staff and supporting administrative tasks

- Processing prescriptions and handling general enquiries

- Flexible working across both practice locations

We have recently been awarded the contract for Aberbeeg Medical Practice and are excited to expand our team across both sites.

Essential

  • Good level of English and basic Mathematics

Desirable

  • - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • - Strong IT and administrative abilities
  • - Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure
  • - Previous experience in a healthcare or customer service setting is desirable
  • - Willingness to travel between both practices as needed

Experience

Essential

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Competent IT skills, including use of MS Office and patient record systems
  • Empathy, discretion, and a patient-focused approach
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Desirable

  • Experience working in a healthcare or customer service setting
  • Knowledge of local health, care, and voluntary services
  • Experience using EMIS
  • Understanding of care navigation or signposting frameworks e.g. Health Education England's competency framework
