Dee Valley Medical Practice is a progressive, dynamic training practice that values teamwork. We have 3 GPs, 1 ANP - prescribing, 2 Nurse Practitioners -prescribing, 3 nurses, 2 HCA & approximately 7000 patients; the practice operates from two sites, Overton and Bangor-on-Dee - Dispensary.
The practice is seeking to appoint a Part-Time Dispenser to join our existing team at our new branch surgery and dispensary in Bangor-on-Dee. We will be pleased to accept application from both experienced dispensers and also from trainees who can demonstrate previous experience working in a high temp environment requiring accuracy and attention to detail.
Main duties of the job
To ensure that all medicines are dispensed in a safe and timely manner adhering to all legal requirements and Practice Standard Operating Procedures. Provide a high level of service to patients, doctors, nurses and other members of the Practice team.
About us
Our main surgery is in the village of Overton on Dee, 7 miles outside Wrexham, near the North Shropshire border. We moved into new premises on this site in January 2006 and share the site with Rowlands Pharmacy and some of the Community Nursing team. We have 7000 patients on our list covering a large geographical area including into North Shropshire. We have a branch Surgery/Dispensary in Bangor on Dee, a couple of miles from Overton. There are two Partner GPs and as a training practice we usually have two GPST complimenting our team. We have a strong nursing team led by a very experienced ANP supported by a nurse practitioner, 2 nurses and 2 HCA.

Ensure dispensing procedures are carried out adhering to Practice Standard Operating Procedures
Participate in weekly monitored dose system orders
Hand out prescriptions and dispensed items and collect payment as necessary
Deal with queries relating to prescriptions as necessary
Ensure outstanding queries are explained and handed over to next shift as necessary
Undertake DRUMs as required
Respond to requests of doctors and nurses during surgery
Ensure drug alerts are dealt with promptly
Ensure refrigerated items are stored correctly and maintain temperature control record book
Ensure incoming stock is dealt with promptly
Maintain high standards of cleanliness on shelves and work surfaces
Ensure dispensary equipment is kept clean and in good working order
