Main duties of the job
As a salaried General Practitioner you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred primary care services. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and be responsible for the ongoing clinical care of a defined patient list, as well as unscheduled care.
Weekly Duties Typically Include:
Conducting face-to-face, telephone, and online consultations with patients
Managing acute, chronic, and complex medical conditions
Undertaking clinical administration (e.g. reviewing results, prescriptions, referrals, and letters)
Participating in on-call sessions as part of the duty doctor rota
Carrying out home visits and care home reviews as needed
Engaging in clinical meetings, educational sessions, and case discussions
Supporting clinical audits, QOF targets, and quality improvement projects
Responsibilities:
Ensure safe, evidence-based prescribing and patient care
Maintain accurate and timely medical records
Collaborate with practice nurses, pharmacist, and other clinicians
Support training, mentoring, or supervision of students
Participate in safeguarding, complaints management, and significant event reviews
Contribute to practice resilience, continuity, and service development
Accountability:
Reports to the Practice Manager and GP Partners
Works in line with Health Board guidance and NHS Wales policies
Expected to follow GMC standards, NICE guidelines, and local protocols
About us
We are a established, forward-thinking GP practice with excellent patient relationships in the rural town of Newcastle Emlyn. We are a partnership of five doctors together with 3 salaried GPs, an Advanced Nurse Practitioner and a supportive health care team of practice nurses, community nurses, pharmacist, health visitor and midwives, assisted by our administrative staff.
We are a training practice and currently host 2 GP registrars as well as pharmacy and medical students.
