The Practice Manager will oversee the day to day operations of the surgery, and dispensary, ensuring efficiency and smooth functioning. This includes managing the staff, finances, and regulatory compliance.

Main duties of the job

The Practice Manager will be responsible for the efficient and effective day-to-day management of the practice and dispensary, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and the smooth running of administrative and operational functions.

This role requires strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, as well as a good understanding of the healthcare landscape.

The team excels at multi-tasking, and the Practice Manager will be expected on occasions to undertake reception duties, and any other duties where support is needed within the practice team.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of practice management, encompassing financial administration, human resources, and IT systems.

  • Recruit, train, and supervise all non-clinical staff

  • Manage the overall smooth and efficient operation of the dispensary, including staff management, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and procedures, whilst maintaining quality standards and patient satisfaction.

  • Manage the dispensary's finances and contribute to cost efficiency.

  • Implement and maintain effective, up-to-date policies and procedures related to dispensing practices, health and safety, data protection (GDPR), and regulatory requirements

  • Ensure staff competency and adherence to standard operating procedures.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and quality standards (e.g., GDPR).

  • Manage and develop the practice team, fostering a positive and collaborative working environment.

  • Interact with patients and address any concerns or complaints.

Essential

  • GCSE Grade A-C

Desirable

  • Qualified to NVQ Level 2 in Dispensing Services

Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience in a management role, preferably within a healthcare setting.
  • Experience of working with the public / patients
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Motivated, forward-thinking, adaptable, flexible, and able to work under pressure and prioritize tasks.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant IT systems (e.g., Microsoft Office, and clinical systems such as EMIS Web).
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals and teams.
  • Empathy and sensitivity in patient interactions.
