Job summary
Mumbles Medical Practice is looking to recruit a part time medical receptionist to join our busy friendly team to work 32 hours a week between the main surgery in Norton & branch surgery in Murton so the ability to work between both sites is essential.
The role will be to provide efficient and organised administrative support in reception in line with practice requirements and guidelines. It is essential that the candidate can demonstrate a willingness to learn and integrate quickly into a busy, fast moving environment. A good friendly personality is essential, along with excellent communication skills and the ability to multi task.
The ideal candidate will need to undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the practice.
Salary to start on minimum wage increasing to £11.84
Main duties of the job
The right candidate would ideally have previous medical reception experience but not essential. You must possess excellent customer service skills and computer and IT skills are essential.
Main duties of the job include:
Dealing with patients face to face and over the telephone
Data inputting
Filing of medical records and documents
Processing incoming and outgoing mail
Completing requests made by patients and staff
Booking appointments and diary management
Processing of prescriptions
Various other admin duties as required
Working to all practice policies & procedures
Working as a team as well as on own initiative
Candidates should be enthusiastic, reliable and have a flexible approach to work. You should have the ability to record and relay information accurately and confidentially
About us
Mumbles Medical Practice is within walking distance of the pretty village of Mumbles which is full of character and charm to the west of Swansea Bay and has a branch surgery in Murton. The practice serves a patient population of 7700 patients. The current Practice team consists 5 Partners, Advanced Nurse Practitioner and 3 part-time nurses who are supported by the admin team.

The hours will be worked Monday to Friday between the hours of 07.45 am 6.30 pm across both practices. We will also require the candidate to be flexible to cover periods of annual leave and sickness.
This is a very challenging and rewarding post where duties are varied. Duties will include a range of administrative and reception tasks. Answering the telephone, booking appointments through our triage system, patient follow up for test results, generating repeat prescriptions, contacting patients for recall and action needed following hospital appointments. Candidates must be computer literate and have an excellent telephone manner. Previous experience in an NHS environment would be an advantage, however full training will be given.
