We are seeking a motivated and committed Healthcare Assistant with training and experience in immunisations, to join our supportive, enthusiastic and friendly team.
We are looking to develop and increase our current team. You will be working alongside our existing Practice Nurses, HCAs and Phlebotomists to develop the service we currently offer our patients. You will be supporting our GPs with family planning and minor surgery sessions. You will be fully supported by our GPs & practice management team and as a patient-focused practice, in-turn you will be asked to deliver the highest quality service to our patients and our practice community. The successful applicant will be a dynamic individual, able to evidence the relevant qualifications and experience.
Main duties of the job
The candidate will demonstrate flexibility and have excellent communication skills to include the ability to deal with sensitive information and able to work with staff of all disciplines. Prior experience of working in a GP Practice setting is desirable. This is an excellent opportunity to further develop clinical skills.
We are forward thinking, adaptable and offer the highest level of patient care for a large patient population. You will be working from two sites, with a varied patient demographic.
The team includes GP's, Physician Associates, ANP's, PN's, HCA's and Pharmacists who all provide clinical support. You will deliver care within the boundaries of your role
About us
Castle Gate Medical Practice (formerly Chippenham Surgery) has been providing medical care to local patients since approximately 1840. Since then we have grown to provide care for a list size currently standing at approximately 14,260 patients - and increasing. Following a recent merger we have a branch surgery in Raglan (9 miles from Monmouth). We have 9 GPs working at our Practice in addition to a great team of other clinicians, receptionists, admin and support staff. We encourage our healthcare professionals to develop their own professional development plans, allowing individuals time to teach and study. Job responsibilities
The healthcare assistant/nursing assistant/healthcare support worker will provide the following nursing services, in agreement with the nurse manager/senior practice nurse and the GPs
Carry out measurements (height, weight, blood pressure, etc) for health checks, such as new patient checks and healthy lifestyle checks (MOTs), provide lifestyle advice to patients or refer to nurse or GP as appropriate
Obtain blood samples, prepare forms, store samples and dispatch to the lab
Carry out ECGs
Carry out blood pressure checks
Carry out peak flow measurements
Carry out urinalysis
Provide healthy lifestyle advice to patients
Assist with child immunisation clinics
Assist with adult immunisations
Provide assistance to the GPs, nurses and other health professionals in carrying out complex procedures, as required
Clinical support
Ensure equipment and treatment rooms are maintained to appropriate levels of cleanliness, eg sterilising equipment, tidying rooms
Ensure GPs rooms, treatment rooms and minor surgery suites are stocked with appropriate amounts of equipment and clinical supplies
Assist with ordering clinical supplies and equipment to ensure stock is maintained
Chaperone patients as required during consultation with other health professionals
