Meddygfa Llanberis is looking to recruit a highly motivated Practice Nurse to join their friendly and supportive team.The ideal candidate would have experience of working in General Practice or Healthcare setting.

The following Nursing skills are essential:- Cervical cytology- Immunisations and vaccinations- Wound care- Phlebotomy- ECGs

-cryotherapyYou will also have experience in chronic disease/case management including:- Asthma- COPD- Diabetes- Coronary Heart Disease- Anticoagulation monitoring (INR Star)The successful candidate would be required to hold a Registered General Nurse qualification and have an active registration with the NMC, have excellent communications skills with an ability to prioritise your workload and be a Team player ready to support colleagues and continue to develop their skills by attending relevant training.The ability to speak Welsh is desirable.The post is subject to references and a satisfactory DBS check.

About us

A friendly, busy practice of approx 6,000 patients covering 3 sites, Llanberis, Deiniolen and Llanrug. We have an experienced clinical team of 7 GP Partners, practice nurse and 2 HCA's who are supported by an efficient admin team.

Job responsibilities

Main Purpose of the Role

To maintain a safe and effective level of practice and to bring any deficits in training to the attention of the nursing team leader so these can be addressed.

To act in a professional manner at all times and adhere to practice policies, protocols and guidelines.

To work as an effective team player

To provide continuing care to patients across the whole practice population.

To provide health maintenance and health promotional services to the well, offering educational supportive setting for patients to explore their health problems.

General nursing duties:

Chronic Disease management

Childhood immunisations

Cytology

To provide treatment of minor cuts/bruises, dressing of wounds. Removal of sutures/clips.

To provide immunisations and health advice to patients travelling abroad.

To provide telephone advice to patients

To keep up to date with Level 2 basic life support and anaphylaxis.

To ensure emergency drugs are kept up to date and to operate a system for checking expiry date of drugs and vaccines.

To maintain the nursing and treatment rooms in good order

Contraception Advise

Health promotion

To give lifestyle advice to patients including advice on smoking, alcohol consumption, diet and exercise.

To provide new registration health checks for all patients newly registering to the practice.

To provide other general and specific advice in line with national and local health priorities.

Participate in Annual Influenza campaigns.

Risk assessment

Recognise issues and gathering sufficient information to refer (e.g. drugs, domestic violence, child protection, vulnerable adults, senior patients, social problems).

Supplies and equipment

In participation with other members of nursing team, ensure the maintenance of equipment and stock levels relating to the patient care in the Treatment room and other clinical areas.

Administrative and professional responsibilities

Ensure accurate notes of all consultations and treatments are recorded in the patients notes on the clinical computer system as appropriate.

Ensure accurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with patient health care and registration with practice.

Attend and participate in practice meetings/protected learning time sessions, in-house and externally as required.

Professional development Maintain continued education by attendance at courses and study days as deemed useful or necessary for professional development and re-validation.
