Newtown Medical Practice is looking to expand the practice team and an opportunity has arisen for a receptionist /administrator to join our friendly forward thinking team.

Main duties of the job

Candidates should have a minimum of 5 GCSEs to include English and Maths. A common sense approach, to be able to work well as part of a team and some experience of dealing with the public is also required. A high level of flexibility and ability to work in a busy environment is desirable. Experience working in a GP practice would be an advantage but not essential as training will be provided.

Newtown Medical Practice is based in the bustling market town of Newtown on the beautiful Shropshire/Powys border. Being near the Marches border we have the advantage of an attractive rural environment with good links to the national motorway network providing access to both rural hills and coast in one direction and access to the larger urban areas of Shrewsbury, Chester and Birmingham within a reasonable drive time in the other direction.

We are a friendly and supportive practice with 4 partners managing 13,400 patients well used in multi-disciplinary working.

Offer general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone

Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way

Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the practice, including the provision of secretarial and clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the practice team

Facilitate effective communication between patients, members of the primary health care team, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies
