Job summary

Responsible for the day to day supervision and management of all reception staff and associated functions. Ensuring all functions are carried out in accordance with agreed procedures, protocols and time scales.

Main duties of the job

Duties include: Assisting with complaints in accordance with Practice Complaints and evaluate suggestions. Co-ordinate emergency GP requests. Ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained for patient services. Ensure systems are in place for the marrying up of notes and recording of data. Maintain and update practice notice boards and similar patient information. Deal with general telephone enquiries from patients and the general public.

About North Celynen Practice

North Celynen Practice is in Caerphilly Borough County. The Practice is part of the Risca Surgery and North Celynen Partnership. We are a Teaching Practice taking in Registrars, Medical Students and Academy Staff. We have a full primary health care team which includes Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurse Manager, experienced nurses, highly qualified Health Care Assistants as well as a highly experienced Managerial and Administrative Team. We work in purpose built, modern surgeries, Crumlin and Newbridge Crumlin. Our other Practice is in Risca. We have a large Practice population across the two sites: 12,950 Patients in Risca Surgery and 9,400 in North Celynen Practice. We are consistently high achievers. We offer patients core general medical services and provide a variety of enhanced series such as minor surgery. We work closely with District Nurses, Health Visitors and Palliative Care teams.

Ensure practice polices are followed and accurate records are kept with particular reference to: appointments, messages, visits, post, patient registration, repeat prescriptions, filing systems, births and deaths. Reception Staff Rota. Organise reception staff as appropriate in line with practice business needs. Approve and allocate annual and other leave appropriately. Liaise with management team concerning staffing and organisation of work. Liaise with members of the primary care mental health team, outside agencies and practice volunteers as required
