Main duties of the job

Responsible for providing expert pharmaceutical advice, including specialist antimicrobial advice across all clinical areas of the Trust to prescribers, clinicians, nursing staff and pharmacy staff and patients to deliver high quality pharmaceutical care and improve patient safety.

Work in conjunction with the Consultant Microbiologists and infection control team to develop training programmes and audit and feedback to educate prescribers, pharmacists and nursing staff on the safe and effective use of antimicrobials.

Participate in multidisciplinary team activities to provide advice on infection Management i.e. ward rounds, antimicrobial stewardship rounds, and multidisciplinary team meetings.

Act as a source of pharmaceutical expertise with regards antimicrobials advising patients, carers, Pharmacy staff, medical staff, nurses and Physician associates across RBH.

Lead the pharmacy service provided in support of the microbiology team and delivery of AMS agenda including microbiology ward rounds, C. difficile MDT and pharmacy support for the OPAT service.
