Job summary
You will work with
individuals who have physical, mental health, or social disabilities to support
them in carrying out everyday activities. By spending time with each person,
you will understand their daily routines and help them find practical solutions
to overcome challenges. The role is based at Queen Victoria Memorial (QVM)
Hospital, a 21-bedded unit in Welwyn Village, Hertfordshire, specialising in
the rehabilitation of diverse pathologies including stroke, falls,
orthopaedics, general medical conditions, plus size, and amputees. Patient
stays typically range from 17 days to 6 weeks depending on their rehabilitation
pathway. Working at QVM means being part of a supportive and friendly therapy
team, with access to specialist rehabilitation equipment and free on-site
parking.
Main duties of the job
As part of the
inpatient therapy team at Queen Victoria Memorial (QVM) Hospital, you will work
closely with Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Rehabilitation
Assistants, and the wider MDT in delivering comprehensive rehabilitation
packages. This role will involve providing skilled assessment and treatment
sessions to support individual rehabilitation, completing access and home
visits, assessing and ordering equipment, participating in family meetings, and
contributing to complex discharge planning.

assessment of junior staff, technical instructors, and students.
To communicate with relevant medical and nursing staff,
social workers, other health care professionals, patients, relatives, and
carers to ensure a coordinated and holistic approach to patient care.
To maintain own clinical professional development by
developing current knowledge of evidence-based practice, maintaining a
portfolio demonstrating personal development and reflective practice, and
incorporating new skills into everyday practice.
To carry out accompanied home visits and unaccompanied
access visits to assess patients functioning in their own environment and to
communicate with relatives and carers regarding further care and/or treatment
at home.
To participate in departmental audit and research as
required, and to perform any other duties as considered appropriate by the lead
occupational therapist.
