Job summary
NHS Professionals have an exciting opportunity
for an Oncology Pharmacist to support our client trust. This post is based in
the oncology pharmacy, which serves the Southampton Oncology Centre and is focussed
around fulfilling the diverse pharmaceutical needs of the oncology centre to
ensure that we provide an exceptional patient experience.
Main duties of the job
You will be expected to act as a clinical role
model for the band seven cancer pharmacists and will be given the opportunity
to directly manage some of these staff, fully supported by the principal
pharmacist for cancer services.

Key Responsibilities:
- Attend
and contribute to consultant ward rounds and review patients medications. This
includes challenging treatment choices in order to ensure that treatment is
evidence based, patient focused and follows the approved treatment guidelines.
- Deputise
for the lead Pharmacist(s) when needed.
- To
clinically screen prescriptions for patients in the specified clinical area.
- To
provide, when necessary, a clinical pharmacy service to other wards within the
division.
- Prescribing
medications for patients within the specified clinical area.
- Assisting
with the review of medication errors in the specified clinical area.
- To
support the development of electronic prescribing and monitoring systems as
needed.
- To
provide reports on medicines use and expenditure as required for the specified
clinical area.

Essential
- Masters Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent.
- Registered with General Pharmaceutical Council.
- Postgraduate diploma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent experience.
Experience

- Can demonstrate Advanced Stage 1 competencies in the RPS Advanced Pharmacy Framework in relation to medical or surgical patients.
- Experience of audit and evaluative work.
- Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
