Competitive base salary: £22,8163 - £24,336
per annum.

Main duties of the job
Responsibilities:
Responding to emergency and urgent care calls,
including life-threatening and emotionally/psychologically challenging
situations.
Providing outstanding patient care aligned with
EMAS values of respect, integrity, contribution, teamwork, and compassion.
Advocating for patients, demonstrating excellent
communication skills, empathy, and effective teamwork.
Promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in
all aspects of work.
Undertaking First Response Emergency Care
Courses at Levels 3 & 4 and the Level 3 Certificate in Emergency Response
Ambulance Driving (CERAD).
Using technology such as electronic patient
report forms and documenting provided care.
Collaborating with the team, receiving clinical
direction, and following clinical decisions.
Working a variety of shifts, including days,
nights, weekends, and public holidays.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Ideally having NHS and/or patient care
experience within Health and Social Care.
Possessing C1 provisional license at the point
of application, with support to gain full C1 license if required.
Demonstrating good applied numeracy and literacy
skills.
Having a full manual driving license with no
more than 3 points.
Active listening skills and ability to follow
clinical direction.
Previous customer-facing or community response
experience could be beneficial.

As ASC, you will attend a wide range of emergency and urgent care calls, with some being life-threatening, serious and/or emotionally/psychologically challenging. EMAS have a wide range of support for staff, and you must embrace such support and be committed towards developing your professional resilience within the role.
Ideally you will have NHS and/or patient care experience within a Health and Social Care role. This may extend to voluntary roles, including community response or voluntary ambulance services. Alternatively, you may have been in a customer-facing role, with experience of dealing with complex or challenging situations and achieving good outcomes with people and colleagues.

Upon employment, ASCs will undertake the First Response Emergency Care Courses at Levels 3 & 4 and the Level 3 Certificate in Emergency Response Ambulance Driving (CERAD). These will require attendance at an EMAS Education Centre and contain a range of teaching, learning and formal assessments. ASCs will require a full manual driving licence (with no more than 3 points) and the C1 category on the driving licence.
It is desirable that candidates have C1 on commencement of employment/development, however, candidates will need to have at least C1 provisional at point of application. EMAS will support successful candidates who are offered a position to gain the full C1 license if required.
Functional Skills
The ASC role requires you to have good applied numeracy and literacy. The role will require you to use technology such as electronic patient report forms and to document the care provided. During your education period, you will produce workbooks, undertake written and practical assessments and engage in face-to-face and online learning.
Teamwork is essential in the ASC role, and you must have the knowledge and skills to work with people and contribute collaboratively to care. Part of the role requires receiving clinical direction and decisions and so active listening and an ability to follow clinical direction are important.
