Job summary

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and flexible clinical pharmacist, with excellent interpersonal skills, to join our fantastic team at Framlingham Medical Practicein Framlingham, Suffolk.

The vacancy is for between 25-30 hours a week; however, this may be negotiable for the right candidate. Flexibility is crucial to accommodate training, holidays and occasional sickness.

You should be able to work calmly and professionally as part of a team, with the ability to multi-task. A strong command of written and spoken English with an excellent telephone manner is a must. Good time management skills and the ability to follow protocols and or instruction and attention to detail is essential.

Main duties of the job

  • Reduce the medicines related workload on doctors
  • Increase safety and quality of prescribed medicines
  • Provide support on medicines related issues to the whole practice team
  • Be a point of contact for patients regarding medicines queries
  • Carry out clinical medication review
  • Chronic Disease Management (for example, managing hypertension/Type 2 Diabetes/Asthma/COPD patients, polypharmacy review)
  • Medicines reconciliation on transfer between care providers
  • Care home/frailty medication review
  • Focusing on QOF Domains, improving disease registers
  • Prescribing safety audits, clinical audit, local enhanced services support
  • Lead on prescription management (systems and processes, ensuring monitoring is being done, support clerical staff)
  • Actioning of MHRA safety alerts
  • Develop and facilitate a good working relationship with community pharmacists and other local providers of healthcare
  • Plan and organise own workload, including audit and project work, and training sessions for members of the practice team, patients, and carers
  • Maintain registration as a pharmacist and comply with appropriate professional codes
  • As appropriate to the post, to maintain and develop professional competence and expertise, keep up to date with medical/therapeutic evidence and opinion, and local and national service, legislation and policy developments,
  • Undertake any other duties commensurate with the post holders grade as agreed with the post holders line manager

About us

Framlingham Medical Practice is joining Suffolk Primary Care from the beginning of April 2026. This will provide access to a wider range of roles, shared expertise and organisational support, while allowing us to retain our identity as a local practice.We care for 9,500 patients across our main site in Framlingham and our branch surgery at Earl Soham.We are a SystmOne Practice and use Anima to support patient access and general enquiries.

  • Clinical pharmacist
  • 1 advanced nurse practitioner
  • 1 paediatric advanced nurse practitioner
  • 1 paramedic
  • 3 practice nurses
  • 2 healthcare assistant
  • Phlebotomist
  • Dispensary team

The clinical team is supported by our experienced Administration and Reception teams.

The practice is an established GP training practice.

The practice also offers placements to final year medical students from the University of Cambridge and the University of East Anglia.

  • CMAS (Community Memory Assessment Service)
  • Midwife
  • Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) scanners

  • An appreciation of the nature of GP's and general practice.
  • An appreciation of the nature of primary care prescribing.
  • Experience and awareness of common acute and chronic conditions that are likely to be seen in general practice.
  • An appreciation of the new NHS landscape, including relationships between individual practices, PCNs and the commissioners.

Desirable

  • Minimum of 2 years working as a pharmacist demonstrated within a practice portfolio
  • Experience in managing pharmacy services in primary care
  • Un-depth therapeutic and clinical knowledge and understanding of the principles of evidence-based healthcare
  • Understanding of the mentorship process
  • Broad knowledge of general practice
