We are looking for an experienced and motivated medical secretary team leader to join our busy and supportive team on a 18 month fixed term contract. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled medical secretary who is ready to take the next step into a leadership role, or for an existing team leader looking to further develop their skills within a large and evolving organisation.
Our medical secretaries play a vital role in supporting clinicians and ensuring patients receive timely, safe and high-quality care. As team leader, you will combine hands-on operational work with day-to-day leadership of the team. You will support the smooth running of referral management, private work and advice and guidance processes, while also developing and supporting colleagues to deliver a consistently high standard of service.
Main duties of the job
- Leading and supporting a team of medical secretaries supported by the medical secretary manager
- Overseeing referral workflows, including routine, urgent and 2WW referrals
- Managing private work processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and appropriate charging
- Supporting the handling of advice and guidance requests and ensuring appropriate follow-up
- Providing training, coaching and day-to-day support to team members
- Working closely with clinicians and operational managers to continuously improve processes
