Job summary

Burlington Primary Care are looking to welcome a practice nurse to their hard-working nursing team on a full-time basis.The working hours will be 37.5 hours per week with shifts to be Monday - Friday between the hours of 7am - 6.30pm (exact shifts to be agreed with successful candidate). Our practice nurses have a busy working day, with a wide variety of tasks to keep the day interesting andhave a varied workload, dealing with patients either face to face, by telephone or by group consultation.

Essential

  • Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD)
  • Experience of working as a qualified nurse (ideally some in primary care, but hospital background can be accepted for entry-level)
  • Evidence of delivering health promotion and disease prevention
  • Ability to undertake long-term condition reviews, wound care, immunisations, cervical cytology (depending on training)
  • Good understanding of primary care and GP practice environment
  • Good IT skills (clinical systems like EMIS/SystmOne, Microsoft Office)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team

Desirable

  • Experience in managing and supporting patients with long-term conditions (e.g. asthma, COPD, diabetes, hypertension)

Qualifications

Essential

  • A relevant nursing degree.
  • Current NMC registration with an active PIN.

Desirable

  • Post-registration qualifications relevant to primary care (e.g. cervical cytology, immunisations, contraception, chronic disease)Additional chronic disease diplomas (e.g. Diabetes diploma, Asthma/COPD diploma)
