Job summary

Orchard House Surgery based in Newmarket,has an opportunity for an enthusiastic and proactive receptionist to join our team, on apart-time basis for 25 hours per week to be worked as follows:

Wednesday 8am 6.30pm, Thursday 8am 2pm and Friday 8am 6.30pm

The receptionist plays a pivotal role in the experience of patients at our practice,helping them to access the right services and dealing with their queries face-to-face, online or by telephone.

Main duties of the job

  • Greeting and directing all patients.
  • Making appointments.
  • Answering queries and complaints from patients or outside agencies, signposting to the appropriate staff member.
  • Accepting, issuing and handing out prescriptions, letters, completed forms, specimen bottles, etc.
  • Advising patients of practice procedures.
  • Registering new patients.
  • Accurately maintaining medical records, photocopying, filing and scanning.

About us

We are a 6-partner PMS practice in Newmarketwith approx. 11,400 patients and employ 3 further salaried doctors. The practice is one of three based that provides a high level of care to our patients in Newmarket and surrounding villages.

  • Strong IT and administration skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Previous medical or healthcare receptionist experience is desirable.
