Job summary

The Elizabeth Courtauld Surgery has an exciting opportunity for a healthcare assistant to join our diverse and multi-skilled professional team to provide high quality person-centred, holistic nursing care to patients.

This post is available for 37.5 hours per week, over five days (weekdays only).Part-time applications will be considered for the right candidate.

The successful candidate will join a practice that takes pride in its can do attitude and forward-thinking. You will work within what can be a busy, often demanding, but highly rewarding environment with an experienced and welcoming team.

Main duties of the job

  • Wound care
  • Vaccinations (seasonal flu and pneumovax)
  • Injections in line with PSD and practice guidelines
  • ECGs/BPs
  • Phlebotomy
  • Health monitoring and management
  • NHS health checks
  • Assisting with minor surgery clinics
  • Experience with chronic disease management (qualified or willingness to undertake training).

Salary depends on qualifications/chronic disease management experience.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Bachelors degree in Nursing or an approved nursing qualification.
  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
  • Current professional registration and eligibility to practice in the UK.

Desirable

  • Non-medical prescribing qualification (level 6 or 7) for health care professionals.
  • Additional qualifications in areas such as immunisation, wound care, or long-term condition management.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience working in general practice or a primary care setting.
  • Excellent knowledge of core nursing practice and patient care principles.
  • Skilled in managing long-term conditions (e.g., diabetes, asthma, hypertension).
  • Experience providing immunisations, health checks, and routine treatment room procedures.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with patients and colleagues.
  • Ability to manage own workload and work autonomously under supervision.
  • Empathy, sensitivity, and professionalism in patient care.

  • Specialism in areas such as, but not limited to, respiratory, cardiovascular, diabetes.
  • Experience with health promotion, patient education, and chronic disease management programs.
