Job summary

Ashburnham Road Surgery in Bedford is looking for two friendly, receptionists to join our team on a full-time basis, working 8am to 6.30pm with an hours break. The first permanent receptionist is required to commence at the end of February and the second will be a maternity cover to commence in April 2026. We are ideally looking for the staff who have previous experience in the NHS GP practice.

General practice is a challenging environment that requires a calm and caring approach with the ability to work under pressure.

Main duties of the job

  • Greet and welcome visitors in a professional manner
  • Answer and direct phone calls to the appropriate departments
  • Handle incoming and outgoing mail and packages
  • Maintain a clean and organized reception area
  • Provide administrative support to other departments as needed

We are a small 2 GP, very friendly, well organised practice in the town centre. We look after 4,000 patients and our QOF points are consistently above 90%.
