Healthcare Assistant

Job summary

Felixstowe Road Medical Practice is looking for a healthcare assistant (HCA) to join the practice in this vital patient-facing role with both clinical and administrative responsibilities. The role is offered on apart-time basis for 10 hours per week (ideally looking for 10 hours over 1 day however, will consider an extra half or full day for the right candidate.)

The role will offer you the opportunity to build on your experience, skills and competence, requiring you to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. we offer a range of staff development opportunities to our healthcare assistants.

Main duties of the job

• Carry out base-line observations such as pulse, oximetry, temperature, blood pressure and blood glucose levels, recording findings accurately.
• venepuncture, phlebotomy checks.
• Ensure that all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session.
• Update patient health records.
• Ensure that medical supplies are in stock.
• Act as a chaperone where required.
• Communicate with patients, relatives, and carers including providing valuable health promotion and education.
• New patient health checks.

We are a friendly GP practice situated over the East side of Ipswich. Our aim is to provide high quality, patient centred care, adhering to a traditional model of general practice, whilst recognising the need to evolve and respond to the new challenges in health and social care. We have just over 10,200 patients supported by a team of 7 GP's 4 practice nurses and 2 healthcare assistants along side various PCN staff that are working for the practice. We are also a training practice and currently have 2 GP registrars training with us.
