Salaried GP

The closing date is 03 February 2026

Job summary

Wootton Vale Healthy Living Centre & Shortstown Surgery is a forward thinking and innovative practice looking to recruit a salaried GP for up to 8 sessions per week, to join our dynamic team. This is a permanent position with flexible contract options.

We embrace new ways of working and welcome ideas to change the way our clinicians work to bring more variety into their days. We work closely with our local commissioners and enjoy taking part in pilot projects and we would support any applicants to take part in these depending on their area of interest.

We pride ourselves on having good patient access figures and our two sites have very different patient demographics and levels of deprivation which leads to an interesting clinical challenge.

Main duties of the job

All applicants should have the following qualifications:

  • Fully qualified GP with GMC registration
  • Annual appraisal and revalidation (when appropriate)
  • Be on the NHSE medical performers list
  • We are also a Tier 2 Sponsoring practice and would support any applicants requiring a Tier 2 visa

About us

We are fully committed to supporting our staff to develop in their careers and as such, wemaintain a close partnership with the Bedfordshire, Luton, and Milton Keynes Training Hub. Our aim is to provide comprehensive training and development opportunities to our staff, fostering their growth within the NHS Primary Care community.

Through this collaboration, we offer a diverse range of accessible training and development options, including:

  • Health and well-being benefits, including funded access to the ShinyMind app, which offers daily support for well-being and resilience
  • We are a training practice which means that we will be able to support GP trainees in the future and would support applicants interested in GP education to become a GP trainer.
  • Support from the Training Hub GP Workforce Leads
  • Newly qualified GPs (within one year of CCT completion) will be supported to join the Training Hubs comprehensive two-year New to Practice Fellowship Programme, offering CPD activities, peer support networks, and deeper understanding of general practice.

We also actively encourage portfolio working and would be more than happy to discuss any areas of special interest you may have.

We welcome you to join our dynamic team and make a meaningful impact on the health and well-being of our patients. If you would like more information or just an initial discussion, please don't hesitate to contact Richie Short (Business Manager) at: richard.short@nhs.net or on +44 (0)1234 762500.
