Job summary
The Reynard Surgery is looking to welcome a qualified dispenser into our busy practice, who will play a full and active role as part of the practice multi-disciplinary team. This role is offered to cover up to 12 months maternity leave on a full-time basis, for 37.5 hours per week on 5 days. There is the possibility that this could lead to a permanent position.
Main duties of the job
- Process all relevant prescriptions and repeat prescriptions as authorised by GPs and prescribing nurses where appropriate, in accordance with the good practice principles of the Dispensing Services Quality Scheme;
- Ensure that all medicines and appliances dispensed are checked against the prescription and whenever there is doubt about the appropriateness of the item, or about the dose or labelling instructions, to check with the authorising doctor or duty doctor;
- Collect all due prescription charges and ensure that the patient declaration on the reverse of the FP10 is duly filled in and signed by the patient;
- Process dossette boxes;
- Manage ordering stock and stock control;
- Answer and deal withdispensary phone enquiries;
- Monitor patients exemption status;
- Sort and dispose of unwanted/returned medication;
- Any other duties to assist in the smooth day to day running of the dispensary and surgery as directed by the either the dispensary manager or practice manager.

The Reynard Surgery, Red Lodge is a rural dispensing practice with a population list of just over 10,100 patients. We are part of the Forest Heath PCN. We have a multi-disiplinary team consisting of 3 GPs, 4 advanced nurse practitioners, 3 practice nurses, 1 Healthcare assistant, a paramedic and various other administration staff. We cover 3 care homes locally and accept patients from all the out lying villages. We have a busy dispensary team of 4 plus a delivery service is offered to those patients that find it challenging to obtain their medications. We are a modern welcoming and happy practice with our focus being on patient care, health and well being of both staff and patients.
