Job summary

Colne Medical Centre is looking for a qualified dispenser to join our friendly but busy team working in our dispensary. Colne Medical Centre has two branches and this role will be based at the Alresford branch. The role is for 16-20 hours per week with the potential for additional hours in the future.

The post holder may, on occasion, be required to provide extra dispensary cover during holidays or sickness.

Interviews will be carried out for successful applicants on receipt of CV and covering letter, and we reserve the right to retract the advert if a suitable person is found before the end date.

Main duties of the job

• Issue of repeats paper and EPS from online/email/ paper requests
• Monitor of medication reviews
• Deal with all patient enquiries and liaising with clinical team
• Preparing and dispensing medication
• NHS script and non NHS fees
• Endorse prescriptions and preparing scripts for PPD submission
• Order, accept deliveries and check in of stock
• Cash up till
• Follow/monitor/write SOPs (Standard operating Procedures) in line with good practice and DSQS (Dispensing Services Quality Scheme)
• Manage patient complaints sensitively, directing them to the dispensary manager
• Liaise with outside agencies and NEECCG representatives where appropriate

In June 2017 The Colte Partnership was formed consisting of 8 local practices across Colchester and Tendring caring for approx. 93,000 patients.

We also work as three collaborative Primary Care Networks (PCNs) which span across Colchester and Tendring. There is a wide socio-economic and demographic served within this area which will provide an interesting and varied case mix. You will be joining an enthusiastic team of clinicians and administrators. You will be well supported with on-going professional development (training support, CPD and peer support). The role will contribute to the improving quality of care of our patients across the network of practices.
