Care Assistant

Job summary

East Anglia Children's Hospices (EACH), has an opportunity for a care assistant to join our team on a full-time basis, although part-time hours of over 24 per week can be considered. This position will be based at The Treehouse Hospice in Ipswich.

We are looking for individuals with experience of working within a similar caring profession who want to further their experience or develop skills working in children's palliative care. Our standard shift pattern is 12.5 hour shifts, day shifts, 7.30am - 8pm and night shifts, 7.30pm - 8am. We also have home care shifts which will be based out in the community and these hours can vary. We offer enhanced rates for the weekends, evenings and bank holidays. If you are a skilled care assistant, with excellent person-centred planning experience and strong local knowledge for accessing key support, then we would love to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

  • Deliver person-centred planned care to designated babies, children and young people.
  • Administer medicines as an authorised practitioner.
  • Ensure care plans are kept up to date, delivery of care is accurately recorded, and records are maintained in accordance with EACH policies and procedures.
  • Participate in planning and delivering family wellbeing groups and events, and hydrotherapy.
  • Provide support and assistance to other team members when carrying out nursing procedures or wellbeing activities and events.
  • Maintain clinical records on SystmOne.
  • Maintain regular contact with designated families.
